Course Overview

This course is designed with specialists in mind. Through the use of demo lectures and customizable hands-on ultrasound wet labs, attendees will have the opportunity to personalize the labs to address their specific learning needs and further enhance their proficiency in abdominal ultrasound. The labs are designed to maximize the scanning time in small group environments, guided by Diplomates of the American College of Veterinary Radiology. Instructors will be available to help guide attendee learning and individualize what participants are working on based on what they would like to accomplish in the labs.

By the end of the course, you will be able to:

  1. Create and maintain the optimal image on your ultrasound machine in dogs and cats
  2. Understand probe selection
  3. Recognize normal and abnormal appearance of the liver and spleen, including utilization of the intercostal windows and interrogating the biliary system
  4. Recognize normal and abnormal appearance of the kidneys and bladder
  5. Recognize normal and abnormal appearance of the GI tract and pancreas
  6. Recognize normal and abnormal appearance of the adrenal glands and abdominal lymph nodes
  7. Understand and perform ultrasound guided aspirate techniques
